The long wait is finally over and it is with great excitement that we report that FAC 59A-18.0081 – Certified Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aide Regulation update is now final! The Health and Safety Institute has been added as a named CPR provider in the Regulation.

The Safety Council offers the nationally recognized American Safety & Health Institute First Aid and Adult CPR training course to help employers comply with OSHA’s requirement for trained First Aid responders (29 CFR 1910.151).

CPR/AED Course Description

Our First Aid/CPR/AED course is geared specifically towards response to workplace injuries/illnesses and includes OSHA required blood-borne pathogens training for employees with potential exposure to blood or body fluids. Upon successful completion, participants earn a 2 year First Aid and Adult CPR certification. Required documentation for blood-borne pathogens is provided to the employer.

Training topics include:
Bleeding control and shock
AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
CPR, rescue breathing, and the Heimlich maneuver
Blood-borne pathogens (29 CFR 1910.1030)
Cuts, lacerations, and amputations
Head, back, chest, and abdominal injuries
Eye injuries
Chemical exposures – relates to Hazcom
Snakes and insect bites
Burns – chemical, electrical, and thermal
Heat-related emergencies
Bone, joint, and muscle injuries
Medical emergencies – heart attack, diabetes, seizures, and asthma

Supplemental Topics Include:
Using an EpiPen injector
Administration of Narcan
Splinting & Burn Dressing

Training is regularly scheduled in our service areas or can be done at your location. Updated to Comply with 2010 AHA Guidelines.
